Tasting Notes:
Natural golden amber.
Warm honey, Alphonso mangos, brioche, cocoa, subtle forest fruits and waves of rose water.
Passion fruit, papaya, red berries and grape must harmonized with sugared almonds, patisserie spice and heather honey.
The third batch of Fettercairn’s Warehouse 2 Collection, a series of small batch single malts showcasing the fruity, spicy strengths of this long underrated distillery.
For the third batch of Fettercairn Warehouse 2, all of the casks were filled in 2015 and whiskymaker Gregg Glass has personally selected the casks, with 57% of the assemblage finishing its maturation in ex-bourbon wood and the remainder finished in a mix of Caribbean rum and Bordeaux red wine casks.
Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch 3 has been bottled without chill filtration at 50.6%. This looks like another winner for Fettercairn, whose reputation has been steadily improving over the last few years off the back of string of excellent recent releases.
